The car ride to the beach is only 5 minutes long. When we make the turn onto the bridge, Gustav begins telling us how excited he is to go back to his favorite place. Tallulah isn’t that vocal during the journey, but as soon as her paws hit the sand, this 7 year old lady is quickly in play mode, just like she’s a puppy again. The extra bounce in their steps & big smiles on their faces make it clear that they love it here! Tallulah has a calm demeanor & she can be quite lazy at times, but that refreshing ocean air turns her into a ball fire. Gustav is constantly energetic & when he’s prancing around in the sand, his disposition becomes even more dynamic.
These canines were developed in the Swiss Alps, bred to herd cattle, pull carts & act as watchdogs. Swissies are very agile, eager to take on a number of jobs & become satisfied when they serve a purpose. Their large paws easily navigate through the woods, mountains & most rough terrain so I really didn’t believe that they would have any interest in the beach. When the dogs first experienced the sand & water, there was uncertainty about this new environment. But thanks to our seasoned old man, Rupert, they learned to develop a fondness for the coast. He showed them that it was completely safe & tons of fun. I never imagined that Tallulah & Gustav would enjoy the beach this much but I’m thrilled about it!
The sea, sun & big, blissful dogs… It truly makes my heart happy to see them so full of pure joy!
